Description: This Public Schools feature dataset is composed of all Public elementary and secondary education facilities in the United States as defined by the Common Core of Data (CCD, https://nces.ed.gov/ccd/ ), National Center for Education Statistics (NCES, https://nces.ed.gov ), US Department of Education for the 2019-2020 school year. This includes all Kindergarten through 12th grade schools as tracked by the Common Core of Data. Included in this dataset are military schools in US territories and referenced in the city field with an APO or FPO address. DOD schools represented in the NCES data that are outside of the United States or US territories have been omitted. This feature class contains all MEDS/MEDS+ as approved by NGA. Complete field and attribute information is available in the ”Entities and Attributes” metadata section. Geographical coverage is depicted in the thumbnail above and detailed in the Place Keyword section of the metadata. This release includes the addition of 3917 new records, modifications to the spatial location and/or attribution of 97,771 records, and removal of 4563 records not present in the NCES CCD data.

Description: During emergency response and recovery events, significant amounts of debris must be removed from impacted areas in order to facilitate access to these locations, begin the restoration process, and start the reconstruction of damaged and/or destroyed buildings in the impact zones. This dataset was developed in an attempt to locate Solid Waste facilities, to which debris can be directed. This layer was initiated, based on NAICS and SIC codes, by extracting landfills from the EPA Facility Registry System (FRS) contained in HSIP Gold 2012. This collection is being supplemented, edited, and amended by source data from individual states. Initial and previous collection efforts were limited to landfills that accept Municipal Solid Waste and/or Construction and Demolition Debris, but some of the features from the initial collection were found to have been misclassified; these have been adjusted accordingly (namely, a single C&D type versus Industrial waste facilities). All new solid waste features must be considered active facilities based on state source data or state permit at the time of release. Already-existing solid waste dataset features that have become inactive or closed since the initial release are noted as such. In this update 432 new facilities were added with the majority being Transfer Stations.

Description: The local law enforcement locations feature class/ shapefile contains point location and tabular information pertaining to a wide range of law enforcement entities in the United States. Law Enforcement agencies "are publicly funded and employ at least one full-time or part-time sworn officer with general arrest powers". This is the definition used by the US Department of Justice - Bureau of Justice Statistics (DOJ-BJS) for their Census of State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies (CSLLEA). Unlike the previous version of this dataset, published in 2009, federal level law enforcement agencies are excluded from this effort. Data fusion techniques are utilized to synchronize overlapping yet disparate source data. The primary sources for this effort are the DOJ-BJS CSLLEA from 2008 and the previously mentioned 2009 feature class from Homeland Security Infrastructure Foundation-Level Data (HIFLD). This feature class contains data for agencies across all 50 U.S. states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico.

Description: This dataset contains point features representing building locations of fire stations in the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The purpose of this collection is to represent the fire station locations on general purpose cartographic products. The data includes manned fire stations and buildings from which a fire response occurs, such as a volunteer fire department building to which fire fighters report for duty, but which is not continuously manned. The data includes both private and governmental entities. In some cases, where fire stations are known to exist but could not be located on a specific building, such as on a military base, airport or manufacturing location, a point was placed at the entrance or the general center of the facility or complex. Some fire locations are approximate, most prevalently in rural areas. Fire training facilities are not included unless these locations also have an active fire station. Locations solely for storing or maintaining fire equipment, or fire stations without a permanent location, were generally excluded.

Description: The All Places of Worship dataset was created from the IRS master files containing the public national record of all 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations (found at https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/exempt-organizations-business-master-file-extract-eo-bmf). The dataset was queried to include only places of worship and geocoded the dataset using the reported places of worship addresses to create a geospatially enabled All Places of Worship dataset. The dataset was delivered to the Homeland Infrastructure Foundation-Level Data (HIFLD), and the HIFLD Support Team (HST) performed some quality control (QC) tasks on the dataset, such as populating metadata based on the IRS Exempt Organizations Business Master File Extract (EO BMF).
